Sistah Vegan Foundation

Welcome!

The Sistah Vegan Foundation is the next evolution of the Sistah Vegan Project, founded by Dr. Breeze Harper in 2005. The Foundation carries that lineage into durable infrastructure: programs, care, and strategy that move beyond discourse into material support and liberation-oriented governance.Dr. Harper marked the creation of the Sistah Vegan Foundation as the next step in this long-running arc: moving from culture-shifting and critical pedagogy into sustained, organized capacity for education, care, and food sovereignty work. The Foundation is also formally established as a 501(c)(3) public charity, which matters because it creates a platform for long-term stewardship, partnerships, and resource redistribution that a solo project cannot hold alone.

Our Pillars

  • Education and leadership development: We build skills, shared language, and communities of practice that strengthen long-term leadership and movement capacity.

  • Support for survivors of gendered violence: We provide food-based mutual aid in collaboration with survivor-serving organizations, centered on dignity, safety, and trauma-informed care.

  • Food sovereignty and policy: We support community-led food sovereignty efforts and policy work that confronts food apartheid and land dispossession.

  • Narrative strategy and futurist methodologies: We develop communication and strategy tools rooted in Emergent Strategy and imagination as political infrastructure.

  • Events and convenings: We create gatherings that build relationship, knowledge exchange, and durable networks of practice.
